It’s now several months since a Liberal politician has set foot on a university campus without being confronted by angry students.
But you know things are getting interesting when even lawyers start getting in on the act.
The Liberals probably assumed they were safe from the unwashed masses when they held a recent fundraising do at an exclusive room in the upper echelons of Crown Casino in Melbourne.
But it seems Liberal Party grubs can’t hide anywhere.
Maurice Blackburn might be a prestigious silver spoon outfit these days, which explains why they were holding a work function in the same venue.
But apparently a few of their lawyers remember something about what the firm’s founder stood for. Aside from being a lawyer, Maurice Blackburn was a rabble rousing Victorian socialist politician.
So when they found themselves next door to a gaggle of Liberal politicians and hangers-on, the temptation was too great to resist. Cory Bernardi, Andrew Bolt and Kevin Andrews were among those bailed up and lambasted by a group of hot-blooded lawyers who invaded the Libs’ event.
For their trouble, they were escorted from the casino by security.
Maurice would have been proud.
