The National Tertiary Education Union is campaigning for secure jobs for scientists and researchers. It says that only 10 percent of research-only positions at Australian universities are permanent and ongoing. Most researchers are stuck on fixed term contracts or on casual employment terms. The union is seeking improvements to these conditions as part of enterprise agreement bargaining happening nationally.
